Frank Thomas Upset Alleged PED Users Are Joining Hall Of Fame

Jan 30, 2017 7:52 AM

Frank Thomas, a longtime critic of performance-enhancing drug users, spoke out against them during the Chicago White Sox's annual fan convention Saturday.

The way Thomas sees it, Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens might as well be enshrined if players linked to performance-enhancing drugs are getting elected.

"They should be in now, as far as I'm concerned," Thomas said. "They've let a few people in already we all know. It's uncomfortable at this point. I'm sure this year's going to be uncomfortable because we've got two great players going in, but they know. It's no secret. If they didn't do it, they would be stomping and kicking and in interviews saying, 'I didn't do it.'"

Ivan Rodriguez and Jeff Bagwell were elected to the Hall of Fame last week despite allegations of PED use.

"Not happy at all," Thomas said. "Some of these guys were great players, but they wouldn't have been great players without drugs. ... I don't mind these guys doing what they want to do for their families and make their money. But don't come calling to the Hall of Fame and say, 'I'm supposed to be in the Hall of Fame,' when you know you cheated."

Twins To Honor Tom Kelly With Statue

Jan 29, 2017 1:08 PM

The Twins plan to honor former manager Tom Kelly with a bronze statue outside Target Field.

The team made the announcement at TwinsFest on Friday night. The statue will be unveiled this season, although a date is not yet set.

Kelly led the Twins to World Series titles in 1987 and 1991. His record of 1,140-1,244 places him first on the Twins' managerial list in wins and games. Kelly retired after the 2001 season. His No. 10 was retired in 2012, the first Twins manager to be so honored.
